Eric Li graduated from Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) with a B.S.
in Mechanical Engineering in July 1997 and shortly thereafter joined
in the doctoral program between University of California, San Diego
(UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU). He is supervised by his
advisors, Professor Meyers from UCSD and Professor Olevsky from SDSU.
His current research project involves characterization of the mechanical
and fracture properties of Ti-Al3Ti laminate composite. The goal of
the research is to investigate the mechanical and fracture properties
of this novel material and to improve its properties. His research requires
theoretical modeling, experiments and finite element analysis. He has
passed the departmental qualifying examination on October 2003 and is
on his way to the Senate qualifying examination.
