Ph.D. Student Positions Available!

San Diego State University, California, USA

Interested in becoming part of the PTL Family? Ph.D. student positions in Mechanical, Aerospace and Structural Engineering or Computational Sciences are offered in the Powder Technology Laboratory – a world leading center in sintering research at the San Diego State University. Ph.D. projects will be of an interdisciplinary nature focused on the experimental or computational materials science. The successful applicants should have strong academic records and should be highly motivated to conduct experimentation or mathematical modeling and simulation on real-world processing of novel material systems for a number of cutting-edge technological applications.

The student will be part of an exciting Joint Doctoral Program with the University of California, San Diego! Admission criteria and application procedures are available at http://www.engineering.sdsu.edu/admissions/jointdocprogram.aspx . The positions assume a tuition coverage support and a competitive stipend. For further information please contact Professor E. Olevsky at eolevsky@mail.sdsu.edu.

The Powder Technology Laboratory (PTL) is located at San Diego State University, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. PTL researchers are currently undertaking projects on various research topics including:

  • Mathematical Modeling and Computer Simulations of Sintering Processes
  • Fundamental Experimental Investigations of Spark Plasma Sintering Process
  • Advanced Ceramic and Ceramic Composite Processing
  • Functionally Graded Materials
  • Thick and Thin Film Technologies
  • Nano-material Synthesis
  • Electrochemical Processing
  • Combustion Synthesis
  • Powder Metallurgy
